4m³ Skip Bin

More Brisbane households book a 4m³ than any other size.

4m³ Skip Bin Hire in Brisbane

General waste across Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast comes with 7 days hire and the tip fees included. It is the price most Brisbane households end up paying, for the simple reason that this is the size most of them end up booking.

Why this is the default

Three jobs account for most of the 4m³ bins we drop off, and they have something in common. They are all whole property jobs with a deadline attached.

End of lease. The garage, the shed, the back of the wardrobe and whatever is under the house, all in the last weekend before the keys go back. Light, bulky and everywhere. Volume is what you need and the 4m³ has it.

A whole house declutter. Usually spread over the 7 days rather than done in a day, which is the other reason this size works. The bin sits in the driveway and gets filled a room at a time.

A deceased estate. Furniture, decades of paperwork, a full linen cupboard, the contents of a garage. It is more than a 3m³ takes and rarely as much as a 6m³. Families booking these are usually working to a settlement date, so the 7 days matters as much as the size does.

If your job is one of those three, this is the bin. If it is a reno, keep reading.

Length is what changes on this size. The 4m³ is no taller than the 2m³ or the 3m³, but at 3.2 metres long you cannot reach the far end from the side. The door on the back is what fixes that. Drop it open, walk a wheelbarrow straight in, and the far end of the bin gets filled properly instead of everything landing in the middle.

Where it sits

A 4m³ still sits in a single car space, and it needs the truck close enough for its lifting arms to set it down, with nothing low overhead. On a standard suburban driveway that is fine. On a steep Brisbane block with a tight turn at the top, it is worth telling us before the truck is booked.

Kerbside placement needs a council permit across most of the corridor we deliver to. You arrange the permit, and we tell you which one you need It takes about 5 working days for a standard suburban footpath, and up to 20 days in the Brisbane CBD, so it is not a same day decision. The service areas page covers each council.

Where the weight goes

1 tonne covers a household load comfortably. It does not cover a household load with the old bathroom in it.

The moment soil, tile, brick or concrete goes into the bin it stops being general waste and becomes builders and mixed heavy, which is priced differently because it goes to landfill and gets weighed on the way in. Tell us up front and it is priced properly. Do not tell us and it gets reclassified at the tip, which costs more.

Over the allowance is charged by the tonne, weighed at the tip.

The rule of thumb: one property’s worth of stuff is a 4m³. One property plus a renovation is a 6m³.

If you are pulling out a kitchen, or a kitchen and a bathroom in the same run, go up. The 6m³ page puts a number on what each way of getting that wrong costs, and it is worth two minutes before you book.
