Concrete Only

A concrete only bin takes clean concrete and masonry and nothing else.

Concrete Skip Bin Hire in Brisbane

Concrete skip bin hire in Brisbane is cheaper than the same load in a mixed bin, and keeping it clean is what earns you the difference. A 3m³ concrete bin across Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast costs less than the same bin of mixed heavy waste, because clean concrete gets crushed into road base and mixed rubble goes to landfill.

Clean concrete is not rubbish

It is raw material, and that is the whole reason this bin exists as a separate line.

A concrete recycler, where it is crushed and reused as road base, which is why a clean load is cheaper than a mixed one A clean load goes to a crushing facility, comes out as road base and aggregate, and gets sold and used again. It never reaches a landfill, so it never attracts the Queensland waste levy that a mixed heavy load pays by the tonne.

That saving is real and it is worth some effort on your part. A driveway broken up and loaded straight into a clean bin is worth money to the facility. The same driveway with the old fence posts, a roll of weed mat and half a wheelbarrow of dirt in it is landfill, and it is priced as landfill.

Clean concrete is not rubbish

What goes in and what does not

What goes in

Clean concrete, brick, block, tile and rubble with nothing mixed through it

Broken concrete slab, path and driveway. Concrete blocks. Bricks, whole or broken. Pavers. Roof tiles and terracotta, usually. Mortar and render off masonry.

Steel reinforcing is the question we get asked most. Mesh and bar through a slab are normal and the crusher handles them. Tell us how much is in there when you book, because a slab that is more steel than concrete is a different job.

What ruins the load

Timber, plastic, steel reinforcing left in, soil, plasterboard, and any general rubbish at all

Soil and turf. Timber, including form work and old posts. Plasterboard. Plastic, weed mat, irrigation and conduit. Household rubbish of any kind. Asphalt, which is a separate stream again, so ask before you assume.

One wheelbarrow of dirt is enough to matter. One piece of timber makes it a mixed heavy load and the price moves to the mixed heavy rate The crusher will not take a contaminated load, so the bin gets redirected to landfill and charged at the heavy waste rate instead. You lose the saving and the bin still has to be paid for.

The practical version: sweep the slab before you break it, and keep a separate pile for everything that is not concrete. On a driveway job that costs you twenty minutes and it saves the difference between the two prices above.

Book the small bin, and mean it

This is the stream where the smallest bins are the right answer, and it catches people out every time.

2m3 through to 4m3. Concrete is the heaviest thing we carry and a bigger bin cannot legally be lifted full

Concrete weighs somewhere near two and a half tonnes a cubic metre. That means a bin of solid concrete reaches its tonnage allowance while it still looks nearly empty, and anything over is charged by the tonne.

A bigger bin does not help. It gives you more room to go over the limit in. On a large job the right answer is two or three small bins in sequence, because each one brings its own tonnage allowance with it, and the driver can swap them as you go.

Size Weight included What that is in concrete
2m³ 0.5 tonnes About 2 square metres of 100mm slab. A garden edge or a short path
3m³ 0.75 tonnes About 3 square metres of 100mm slab. A small shed or tank pad
