If your suburb is not on the list, ask us before you assume the answer is no. The list follows the corridor we deliver into, and a suburb just outside it is often still worth a delivery on the right day.
Do you need a council permit for a skip bin?
Only if it is going on public land. A bin on your own driveway, front yard or hardstand needs nothing from anybody. A bin on the road, the footpath or the nature strip needs approval from your council first, and every council in our run does it differently, with a different name for the permit and a different fee. That is why the answer to this question is never a single number.
You arrange the permit, and we tell you which one you need

| Council | What you need | Where to apply |
|---|---|---|
| Brisbane City | Footpath approval, needed for any bin out longer than 48 hours | Brisbane City Council |
| Logan | Road permit. Logan has a form just for storing a skip bin on the footpath | Logan City Council |
| Ipswich | Road permit, covering the road reserve from boundary to boundary, which takes in the verge and the footpath | Ipswich City Council |
| Redland | Road permit. Redland has a form for a temporary structure on the road reserve and it names skip bins | Redland City Council |
| Gold Coast | Approval to place anything on a road, a footpath or a verge | City of Gold Coast |
What it costs, and why we will not put one number on it
Brisbane City is the one we can price for you, because the council publishes it. $369 application in zones A and B, $184 in zone C, plus an occupation fee by the square metre per week, charged for a minimum of 5 weeks. That second fee is the one people miss. It is charged by the square metre per week with a minimum period, so a 7 day bin hire is billed against a much longer window, and a permit fee quoted to you as a single application figure has left most of the cost out.
The other four councils do not publish a skip bin figure we are willing to repeat. There are numbers on other bin hire websites for Logan and the Gold Coast. We have read them, we cannot trace them back to a council document, and we are not putting them on ours. Ring the council on the link above, or get in touch and we will point you to the right person.
Three things worth knowing whichever council you are in.
Apply before you book the bin, not after
Lead times are working days and a permit that arrives after the truck does is no use to anybody.
The permit is tied to a spot and a period
If the job runs long and you extend the bin hire on a daily rate, check whether the permit covers the extra days too.
Kerbside bins usually need to be visible at night
Most councils want reflective marking or a light on a bin sitting on a road. Ask when you apply.
How far out we go
Brisbane through to the Gold Coast, and the practical limit is the run rather than a line on a map. Past it we will still take the job, but we talk it through with you first.
Delivery is usually next business day, and same day if you get to us before 10am and a truck is free, and Saturday delivery is available on request. Weekend delivery is Not offered at launch and same day is Subject to a truck being free, both worth asking about rather than assuming.
Working out your price
Two things set it: the size of the bin and what is going in it. Book online and we confirm the number with you before anything is charged.
If your suburb is not on the list above, or the bin has to go on the kerb and you would rather somebody else dealt with the paperwork, tell us where it is going.
