Soil Skip Bin Hire in Brisbane
Soil skip bin hire in Brisbane is simpler than you might expect. There is no weight limit on a soil bin. You fill it to the rim and not above, and that is the only line to watch. We deliver soil bins across Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast, from a 2m³ up to a 6m³.
Clean soil or mixed dirt
One question decides which bin you need: is there anything in the dirt that is not dirt?
If it is soil, sand, clay and the odd rock, it is this bin. If there is brick, concrete, tile, timber or rubbish through it, it is a builders and mixed heavy bin. Clean soil can be screened and used again as fill. Dirt with rubble and rubbish through it cannot be pulled apart cheaply, so it goes to landfill and gets charged by the tonne.
Breaking up a slab as well as digging? Keep the two apart. The concrete goes in a concrete only bin, the dirt goes in this one, and both loads stay clean.
What goes in and what does not
Clean soil, sand, clay and excavated dirt, with rocks you can lift by hand
Topsoil and garden soil. Sand. Clay. Dirt dug out of footings, trenches and post holes. Old garden beds coming up. Rocks you can lift by hand, mixed in with the dirt.
Concrete, brick, tile, timber, plastic, green waste, any general rubbish, and contaminated soil
Concrete, brick and tile make it a mixed heavy load, and so does any rubbish, timber or plastic. Roots in the soil are fine. Whole shrubs, branches and stumps are not, and they go in a green waste bin.
Turf costs extra. A few rolls can go in a soil bin, but turf is charged on top, so tell us about it when you book. If there is more than a few rolls, we will tell you whether you need a second bin.
Contaminated soil cannot go in a skip bin at all. That means soil with asbestos in it, soil soaked in fuel or oil, and soil from a block listed on Queensland’s contaminated land registers, which needs a disposal permit before it leaves the site. If you are not sure what the ground has had on it, ask before you load anything.
What happens if the load is wrong
Rubble or rubbish through the soil makes it a mixed heavy load and the price moves to the mixed heavy rate
The load is checked when it is tipped, not when we pick it up. If there is rubble or rubbish through the soil, it cannot go as clean fill, so it goes to landfill as mixed heavy waste and is charged that way. The other problem is overfilling. A soil bin loaded above the rim cannot be lifted safely, and the driver will ask you to take some out before it goes.
Which size suits a soil load
2m³ through to 6m³. There is no weight limit on a soil bin, but it is never filled above the rim
The 6m³ is the biggest soil bin we run. On a bigger dig than that, tell us how much is coming out and we will work out how many bins and when to swap them.
Book a soil bin
Tell us roughly how much you are digging out, what is in it and whether there is any turf, and we will tell you which size to book.
