8m³ Skip Bin Hire in Brisbane
General waste in an 8m³ covers Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast.
Before the price is worth thinking about, check the bin can physically get in, because at this length that stops being a formality and starts being the reason deliveries fail.
Check the access before you book, not on the day
At this size the bin gets long and the truck needs room to work. A driveway that took a 6m³ without anybody thinking about it can be a problem for an 8m³. Run through these five before you book.
- Where the truck goes. The bin is 4.9 metres long and it is lifted in by the arms on the back of the truck, so the truck has to get close to the spot. Move any cars out of the delivery area first.
- Overhead. The lifting arms go well above the bin, so power lines, low branches, carport roofs and shade sails all matter. This is the one that stops a delivery most often.
- Width and the gate. 1.5 metres across, plus room to walk past it while it is being loaded.
- The surface and the slope. A loaded 8m³ is heavy. Soft turf, pavers, a new driveway or a steep slope are all worth sending us photos of before you book, because they change where the driver will put it.
- Kerb or property. If it has to go on the road or the footpath, that is a council permit. You arrange the permit, and we tell you which one you need It takes about 5 working days for a standard suburban footpath, and up to 20 days in the Brisbane CBD and it is council by council, which the service areas page sets out.
If any of those is tight, tell us. A driver who knows about the low branch before he leaves the yard will work around it. $50 to $100, quoted once we have seen the access
What an 8m³ suits
A full house clearance, where a 4m³ would be two bins and two deliveries. Furniture, whitegoods, the garage and the shed together.
Landscaping. Old turf, tree prunings, a pulled out garden bed. This is bulky, light material and volume is exactly what you need. If it is genuinely nothing but green, book it as green waste only and it is cheaper, because clean green gets mulched instead of buried.
A small demolition. A garden shed, a pergola, an old deck, a fence line. Timber and sheeting are light for their size, so the bin fills before it gets heavy.

- The rear door needs about a metre of clear ground behind the bin to swing open. That is worth thinking about before we drop it, because a bin backed hard up against a fence has a door you cannot use.

Do not put a heavy load in this bin
The 8m³ is a volume bin. Filling it with soil, brick or broken concrete will take it well past 1.5 tonnes long before it is full, and the excess is charged by the tonne.
Heavy material belongs in a small bin filled properly. Book builders and mixed heavy for mixed rubble, or concrete only for clean slab and brick, and take the size we recommend rather than the size that looks big enough.
Weight 1.5 tonnes 8m³ or 9m³
Sigma runs seven skip bin sizes in Brisbane, from 2m³ up to 12m³.

9m³ Sigma Bin
The 9m³ is one more cubic metre and it is worth it on genuinely bulky light waste, where you run out of room long before you run out of tonnage. Furniture, insulation, packaging and green waste all qualify.

8m³ Sigma Bin
If the load has any weight in it, the extra metre buys you nothing, and the 8m³ is the right call.
