We are new here, and rather than talk around that, here is what we have decided to do differently while we earn a reputation.
We confirm the price before you pay
Tell us the size, what is going in and where it is going, and we come back with the price before anything is booked or charged. GST is in it, and so are delivery, collection and the tip fees for the weight allowance.
Nothing comes off your card until you have said yes to the number.
We tell you when a smaller bin will do
There is an obvious way to make more money in this trade, and it is to agree with whatever size the customer suggests. We would rather get the size right.
If the load is heavy, the right bin is a small one filled properly, because every bin has a tonnage allowance and dense material reaches it long before the bin is full. If the load is light and bulky, the right bin is usually one size up, because a second delivery costs more than the gap between two sizes. Both of those cost us something to say and they save you more.
What we run
Seven bin sizes, from 2m³ up to 12m³, all Marel bins, so the shape is the same across the fleet.
Six waste streams: general waste, green waste only, light builders, builders and mixed heavy, soil and dirt, and concrete only. They are separate because they end up in different places, and where a load ends up is most of what it costs.
Hire is 7 days and delivery is usually next business day, and same day if you get to us before 10am and a truck is free.
Straight answers on the awkward parts
Two things in this trade generate most of the complaints, and both come from nobody explaining them up front.
Weight. A bin can be under the top rail and still be over its tonnage. The tip weighs it on a weighbridge and charges by the tonne, which is why excess weight is charged on rather than waved through. Every weight allowance we have is published next to the bin it belongs to.
Contamination. A load is classified when it is tipped, not when it is collected. One bag of household rubbish in a green waste bin reclassifies the whole load. We would rather tell you that before the bin turns up than explain it afterwards on an invoice.
