Skip Bin Hire Terms
These are the terms your skip bin hire runs on. They are written to match how we actually work, so if something here does not match what you were told, tell us and we will sort it out.
Who you are hiring from
The bins are supplied by Oz Everyday Essentials Pty Ltd, ABN 76 686 765 195, trading as Sigma Bin Hire. Anything in these terms that says “we” means that business.
What the price covers
The price you are quoted covers delivery of the bin, 7 days hire, collection, and the tip fees and the waste levy on the tonnage allowance for the bin size you booked. GST is included in every price we give you.
It does not cover weight over the allowance, a council permit if the bin is going on the kerb, or a return trip caused by something we could not have known about. Those are set out below.
The hire period
The hire period is 7 days, counted from the day of delivery and not from the day you start filling it. An extension is charged at a daily rate and has to be agreed before the collection date, because once a bin is on the run it gets collected.
Delivery is usually next business day, and same day if you get to us before 10am and a truck is free. We cannot promise a delivery time on the day, because the run depends on traffic and on the job before yours.
Weight
Every bin has a volume and a tonnage allowance, and the load stops at whichever runs out first. The allowance for each size is published next to its price.
Loads are weighed on a weighbridge at the facility. Anything over the allowance is charged by the tonne and it appears on your invoice with the weighbridge figure, so you can see where it came from.
What can go in the bin
You book a waste type and the bin has to match it. What each stream takes, and what it does not, is set out on the waste types page.
A load is classified when it is tipped, not when it is collected. If a load turns up as something other than what was booked, the facility charges the higher rate and that is what is passed on. It is not a penalty we add.
We do not take asbestos, and no skip bin operator can. It is licensed work. Putting asbestos in one of our bins puts the cost of dealing with it, and any fine, on whoever filled the bin.
Nothing may be stacked past the top rail. A bin loaded over it is not roadworthy, so the driver cannot lift it, and the hire does not end until what is in it fits inside it.
Where the bin sits
You tell us where the bin is going and you are telling us you have the right to put it there.
If it is going on your own property, we need the delivery area clear of vehicles, room for the truck to get close, and nothing overhead in the way of its lifting arms. If you want the bin on a lawn, in a backyard or on pavers, send us photos of the access and the spot before you book. We will confirm whether delivery and collection are possible and talk through any surface protection. If any of that is tight, say so when you book. $50 to $100, quoted once we have seen the access
A permit is a condition of the hire wherever the bin sits off your own land. Without one we cannot place it, and if it is placed and later ordered off, moving it is at your cost. You arrange the permit, and we tell you which one you need Fees and notice differ by local government area and both are set out on the service areas page.
While the bin is with you
The bin stays ours. While it is on site it is your responsibility, which in practice means three things: nobody climbs in it, nothing is set alight in it, and it is not moved once the driver has placed it.
If the bin is damaged, stolen or has to be pulled out of somewhere it was moved to, the cost of that lands with whoever hired it.
When we cannot deliver or collect
If the truck arrives and cannot place the bin, because a car is in the way, the access is tighter than described or nobody can be reached, that is a wasted trip and it is charged. The amount is on the cancellation and refunds page.
The same applies at collection if the bin is blocked in or overloaded.
Payment
Prices are inclusive of GST and a tax invoice is issued for every hire. Not passed on
Your rights under Australian law
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. If we get something wrong, you are entitled to have it put right, and the consumer guarantees apply whatever these terms say.
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland.
Questions about any of this
If a clause here does not match what you were told, or you are not sure whether your job fits inside it, ask before you book rather than afterwards. Send us the question.
