Privacy Policy
This privacy policy covers what we collect when you enquire about or book a skip bin, who sees it, and how long it is kept. It is short because we do not collect much.
What we collect
When you enquire or book, we collect your name, the phone number and email address you give us, the address the bin is going to, and the details of the job itself: the size, the waste type and the dates.
No payment is taken on this website and no card details are collected, so there is no card number here for us to store or for anybody to steal.
The website also collects the ordinary things any website collects, which is the page you looked at and roughly where in the world you were when you did it. That is analytics, it is not tied to your name, and it is not used to identify you.
Why we collect it
To deliver a bin to the right address, to pick it up again, to invoice you and to answer you when you get in touch about it. That is the whole list.
We do not sell customer details to anybody, ever.
Who sees it
Our own staff and drivers, so the bin gets to the right place. our tip and transfer station operators, and nobody else
If a load has to be dealt with in a way that involves the council or a regulator, for example if something turns up in a bin that should not be in it, we may have to pass on details. That is rare and it is the only situation where information leaves the list above without you asking us to send it.
Marketing
opt in only, and never on by default
You can tell us to stop at any time and it takes effect straight away.
How long we keep it
Booking and invoice records are kept for 7 years, which is what the tax rules require for a transaction record. Tax records have to be held for a set period under Australian law, so an invoice outlives an enquiry.
An enquiry that never turned into a booking is deleted once it is clearly not going anywhere.
Keeping it safe
Records are held in the systems we run the business on, behind accounts that only our own people have. The website is served over an encrypted connection, which is the padlock in your browser.
No system is completely safe from everything, and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach ever affected your details, we would tell you and we would tell the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which is what the law requires.
Getting a copy, or having it deleted
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email bookings@binhirebrisbane.com.au and we will sort it out. There is no charge and we will come back to you inside a month.
If we are holding something for tax reasons we will say so rather than quietly keeping it.
If you are not happy with how we handled it
Raise it with us first. In a business this size a privacy complaint is almost always a record that is wrong rather than anything misused, and that is fixable in one message through the contact page.
If that does not sort it out, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which is the regulator for privacy in Australia.
